WHAT IS GOLD VERMEIL

Pronounced “ver-may”, gold vermeil is a term that is used to describe a piece of silver that has a thicker layer of gold applied to it. The base metal must always be sterling silver, and the gold must be at least 10ct and 2.5 microns in thickness.

THE BENEFITS OF GOLD VERMEIL.

Gold vermeil is safe for people who may have nickel allergies. It is closely comparable in appearance to gold but is significantly more affordable.

GOLD VERMEIL

We highly recommend that you never wear your jewellery whilst showering or swimming, and remove rings when using household detergents, as this can encourage the gold plate to fade. To clean your item of jewellery, we recommend using a dry soft microfibre or cotton cloth, polishing the surface gently. Never use any abrasive compounds as this will wear away the gold layers.

STERLING SILVER

All our silver designs are sterling silver, over time silver can tarnish very gradually and to minimise this we recommend that you remove your piece of jewellery when showering or swimming as the chemicals such as chlorine can damage the metal.

ROSE GOLD

A Rose Gold finish is achieved by mixing Copper and yellow gold and is then electroplated onto the base material. We only use 925 silver, unless otherwise stated, in all our designs to ensure all our products are totally hypoallergenic and will not tarnish.

GOLD PLATE

Adding a thin layer of gold, typically less than 1 micron, placed onto a base metal, such as brass on this occasion, is referred to as Gold Plate. Gold-plated jewellery is more susceptible to wear and tear than other forms of gold finish, which is why it is more affordable but less durable. It is important for the extended life of gold plate that it is not subjected to chemicals, exposure to moisture, otherwise, the gold plate will tarnish and fade over time.

SILVER PLATE

Silver plated jewellery is more susceptible to wear and tear than other forms of silver finish, which is why it is more affordable but less durable. It is important for the extended life of silver plate that it is not subjected to chemicals, exposure to moisture, otherwise, the silver plate will tarnish and fade over time.
